What is iApplication?
iApplication is an online application preparation tool designed to help you complete your California contractor license application accurately and efficiently. It guides you through each section of the application and helps reduce common mistakes that may cause delays.

How does iApplication work?
You will answer a series of questions about your business, experience, and license request. Based on your answers, iApplication helps prepare the appropriate application and identifies information or documents that may be required.
Do I need to complete the application all at once?
No. You can save your progress and return later to continue working on your application.
Can I check the status of my application?
Yes. Your dashboard allows you to monitor your application’s progress, including whether it is in progress, ready for review, returned for corrections, submitted, or approved.
What information should I have available before starting?
You do not need to have all your information or documents ready before starting. iApplication will guide you through the process and explain what information you need as you move through each step. The key is to get started—you can save your progress and return when you have the requested information.
California Licensing Process
How much experience is required for a California contractor license?
In most cases, the qualifying individual must document at least four years of journey-level or higher experience in the requested classification within the required qualifying period. Certain education, training, or other experience may provide credit when permitted by CSLB.
Who can certify my work experience?
Your experience must be certified by someone with firsthand knowledge of the work you performed. This may include an employer, contractor, supervisor, business associate, union representative, or another qualified individual who can verify your experience.
Does iApplication guarantee that CSLB will approve my application?
No. iApplication helps you prepare a complete and accurate application, but all licensing decisions are made by the Contractors State License Board. Approval is not guaranteed.
Does using iApplication mean I am already licensed?
No. Completing your application is only one part of the licensing process. Depending on your situation, you may also need to receive CSLB approval, pass the required examinations, complete fingerprinting, and satisfy applicable bond, insurance, and licensing requirements.
How long does the contractor license application process take?

Can I still use iApplication without Expert Application Review?
Yes. iApplication will guide you through each part of the application preparation process. However, a team member will not personally review your application or assist with corrections unless Expert Application Review was purchased or included with your course.
Are CSLB application fees included?
